We combine health-promoting Ayurvedic wisdom with the coziness of hygge to deliver intentionally crafted meals to the comfort of your home

Ayurvedic Meals

Ayurveda imparts wisdom that simple, seasonal eating with an emphasis on easily digestible foods and purposeful ingredients is key to longevity and healing.

At Homecooked Hygge, we intentionally craft tridoshic meals, which are balancing for all body types (vata, pitta and kapha), and prepared with local, seasonal and (wherever possible) organic ingredients.

We make eating Ayurvedically simple! There are many nuances to food combining for ease of digestion and preparing flavorful mouth-watering dishes which are all infused into our meals.

Benefits of eating Ayurvedically include:

  • Improved digestion

  • Better sleep

  • Improved sense of well-being

  • Reduction in inflammation

  • Greater mental + emotional clarity

  • Hormonal balance

  • Increased fertility

  • Smoother recovery from birth, illness, surgery

  • Reduction in physical and mental stress

Our food incorporates the six tastes (rasas) of Ayurveda:

  1. Sweet - grounding and nourishing

  2. Sour - stimulating

  3. Salty - hydrating

  4. Pungent - heating

  5. Bitter - detoxifying and cooling

  6. Astringent - drying

Each taste affects how you feel.

Homecooked Hygge's dishes are carefully crafted with all 6 tastes to enhance flavor and leave you feeling truly satiated and energized.

What is the meaning of Hygge?

Pronounced hoo-gah. Hygge is a Scandinavian way of life. As described by Hygge House, it literally only requires consciousness, a certain slowness, and the ability to not just be present – but recognize and enjoy the present moment.

While there’s no one English word or simple definition for hygge, several can be used to describe the idea of hygge such as coziness, happiness, well-being, and comfort.

“It’s that feeling when you’re sharing comfort food and easy conversation with loved ones at a candlelit table.”
-Meik Wiking, The Little Book of Hygge

Ayurveda and hygge can both be embraced not just for their individual qualities but as a way of life.
